Cochem Castle

So much to see and experience along the Mosel river. Cochem Castle was first constructed in the 12th century, and stands guard over the medieval town and vineyards.

The Locals II – The Sartorialist

This image taken along the banks of the Mosel was inspired by The Sartorialist blog, and dedicated to our travel companion and friend, Annemieke. The purpose of The Sartorialist blog is to “create a two-way dialogue about the world of fashion and its relationship to daily life”.

We’ve bumped into a few interesting characters during our Europe trip. First up is a man from Reil – a small village along the Mosel River in Germany.

Gladiator

Standing inside one of the waiting chambers next to the arena at the old Roman Amphitheatre in Trier, I found myself imagining what was running through a gladiator’s mind as he peered out towards his fate.

Embankments, once crowded with callous spectators seeking violent entertainment, now speckled with tiny yellow flowers.

Fountain couple

A fountain in Trier, the oldest city in Germany. This is one of my favourite photos from our time in Europe.
