We enjoyed a wonderful food and wine pairing evening at my brother’s house where we paired a three-course meal with 3 different wines.
The asparagus wrapped in bacon for the starter was so delicious that I didn’t even have time to photograph it! It was complimented with a crisp 2010 Chardonnay from Reyneke.
The main course was a lamb raan dish paired with Reyneke’s 2008 Cornerstone, a fresh blend consisting mostly of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Yes, this did taste as good as it looked!
We opened a bottle of Avondale’s Muscat Rouge dessert wine, to go with the grilled bananas and ginger dessert.
It was really an amazing evening which once again made us realize how choosing the right wine and food combo can bring out the best in both!
